HOUGHTON, Mich. – Second half shooting woes doomed Michigan Tech as the Huskies fell 70-45 to Northern Michigan on Play4Kay Day/Alumni Day inside the SDC Gymnasium Saturday.

"This has happened to us earlier in the year where you miss a couple of shots and we quit running our offense and it spirals out of control and we need to be able to flip those runs sooner," head coach Sam Clayton said. "Obviously it affects us to not have Sara and she is a go-to player but it was good that Maja got some quality minutes and opportunities–we have another huge game on Thursday and we have to have a quicker turning of the switch when our opponent goes on runs."

Michigan Tech (12-10, 8-6) trailed early as Northern Michigan (16-7, 10-4 GLIAC) jumped out to a 7-2 advantage in the early stages of the first quarter. Emma Anderson made her first career start and had four points in the first quarter, with her second basket giving MTU an 11-10 lead with 1:10 to play in the first.

Katelyn Meister had eight of the Huskies 18 points in the second quarter. However, the Wildcats kept up the pace as the two teams headed into halftime with NMU leading 31-30.

The Huskies offensive struggles appeared in the second half, as the Wildcats outscored Tech 19-9 in the third quarter and 20-6 in the fourth quarter.

Emma Anderson once again gave MTU a lead early in the third quarter at 32-31 before the Wildcats began to pull away, making the game out of reach with an 11 point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Katelyn Meister led the Huskies with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Maja Kozlowska scored a career-high 10 points to go with four rebounds.

Makaylee Kuhn and Ana Rhude each scored 16 points to lead the Wildcats as Rhude grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
