HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's basketball completes its longest road stand of the season this week, traveling to Lake Superior State Thursday and No. 7 Ferris State Saturday.

About the Lakers

Lake Superior State enters the week with an overall standing of 1-17 and 0-9 in the GLIAC. The Lakers are on an eight-game losing streak, most recently falling at Saginaw Valley (64-63) on Thursday and Wayne State (87-57) on Saturday.

LSSU averages 56.6 points per game, with 20.8 points coming from the bench. Grace Bradford is the heart of the Lakers with eight double-doubles this season, which ranks first in the league and 19th nationally. Bradford, who averages 11.8 and 10.1 rebounds per outing, amasses 7.7 defensive rebounds a game, ranking eighth in the country. 

Breah Golden provides 9.6 points per game and a team-high 1.9 assists. 

About the Bulldogs

Ferris State holds an overall record of 14-2 and 8-1 in league play. The No. 7 ranked Bulldogs have rattled off seven wins in a row and are 8-1 in January. FSU notably took down then No. 1 ranked Grand Valley State, 71-65 on Jan. 20.

The Bulldogs are ranked 12th nationally with 8.5 3-pointers per game, with Mallory McCartney shooting 41.8 percent from deep, posting 2.38 3-pointers, an outing to be one of three Bulldogs in double-figure scoring (10.8). McCartney also chips in a team-leading 5.4 assists per game, which ranks tops in the GLIAC and 15th in the country.

Chloe Idoni produces a team-high 15.1 points and 6.2 rebounds an outing, with Kadyn Blanchard close behind with 13.3 points. As a team, the Bulldogs shot 46 percent from the field, which ranks 12th in the country and second in the GLIAC.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech is fresh off its 14th consecutive victory over Northern Michigan, holding an overall record of 9-8 and 5-4 in the loop. 

The Huskies put together its most complete game on rivalry week, producing 41 points through the first half to cruise to a 71-58 decision. The Black & Gold saw double-figure scoring from four of its starters led by Katelyn Meister's 16-point outing. Sara Dax (14), Isabella Lenz (13) and Alex Rondorf (10) also scored in double-digits.

MTU also got vital points from Emma Anderson and Alyssa Wypych early, as the two combined for 15 points for the game.

Dax, who also got it going early offensively for the Huskies in Saturday's win, is officially on 1,000-point watch, now with 995 points in 127 career games played.

Isabella Lenz leads the Huskies with 12.2 points per game, while Alex Rondorf is the top rebounder with 64 boards per outing.

One Last Thing

Alex Rondorf recently snapped her most consecutive free-throws made streak, which started on Dec. 17, 2022, and continued through last Saturday's game and concluded at 55 free-throw makes in a row with 35 from last season and 20 through 14 games played. Her 35 consecutive free throws were just four shy of tying the season record held by Katie Zimmerman ('07-'08).
