Huskies Fall at Parkside Thursday

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Michigan Tech women's basketball team struggled offensively in the second half, falling 81-40 at Parkside inside the De Simone Arena on Thursday afternoon.

"We competed in the first quarter. Shots didn't fall and we quit executing on both sides of the ball," head coach Sam Clayton said. "We need to be better on Saturday."

Michigan Tech (7-8, 3-4 GLIAC) was in the driver's seat through the first 10 minutes of action, with Sara Dax scoring seven points to lead the Huskies, with Isabella Lenz and Lydia Schaible also chipping in five points apiece to take a 22-17 lead heading into the second quarter.

Lenz backed up her first quarter performance with seven points in the second quarter with a 3-pointer at the 2:54 mark, cutting the Rangers' lead to two (33-31). Parkside would close the quarter on a 9-0 run to head into the halftime break ahead 42-31.

An unfortunate combination of points in transition from UWP, shooting woes for MTU and foul trouble sending Sara Dax and Katelyn Meister to the bench for extended stretches was a recipe for disaster for the Huskies, who scored 10 points through the final two quarters as the Rangers poured on 38 points in the second half.

Lenz scored a team-high 15 points, while Alex Rondorf and Dax each recorded six rebounds.

Four Rangers scored in double-figures led by Lillie Petersen, who had 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
