WRAPPING UP THE ROAD TRIP

Michigan Tech had mixed results last week to close a four game road trip at Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State. The Huskies prevailed in a pressure packed game at Wayne State 66-64 to open the week on Thursday night. Redshirt junior Brenna Heise was strong from start to finish, pouring in a game high 20 points thanks to connecting on 10 of 13 shots from the field. She grabbed six rebounds, dished out two assists while swiping one steal and generating one blocked shot. In the second half, redshirt junior Kelli Guy, junior Lindsay Winter, senior Morgan Anderson, and Heise all contributed key baskets late in the third and throughout the fourth quarters. Anderson drove to the basket with four seconds left in the contest to notch the game winning bucket. The defense then prevented the Warriors from hitting a triple as time expired. The Huskies went toe to toe in the first half and the majority of the third quarter with Saginaw Valley State on Saturday. Saginaw Valley, who is receiving votes in the most recent WBCA NCAA Division II Poll, closed the third quarter on a 14-2 run to take control of the scoreboard. Anderson had a team high 19 points followed by Guy and Heise with 13 points each. Junior Hannah Stoll had a solid game off the bench with eight points on 4 of 8 shooting from the field.
