Gardner Receives BCAM College Academic-Athletic Team Recognition

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech women's basketball player Kerry Gardner (Middleton, Wis.) has been named to the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM) College Academic-Athletic Team.

Each BCAM Honor Team pay tribute to five outstanding student-athletes from Michigan colleges and universities at the NCAA Division I, III and III levels, along with all NAIA classifications. To be eligible for the honor, players have to be either a starter or key reserve, must have reached sophomore standing, have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games, and have at least a 3.0 grade point average.

Gardner closed out her Tech career by starting in 22 games for the Huskies in 2015-16, averaging the second-most minutes among all Tech players with 29.4 per outing. She was recognized with the team's scholastic achievement award for having the best GPA on the Huskies – a 4.0 in exercise science.

The 2015-16 Tech women's basketball team captured a share of the GLIAC North Division crown – the fourth regular season title in Kim Cameron's tenure as head coach – and qualified for the GLIAC Tournament.
