UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. — Danielle Blake sank a 15-footer at the end of regulation to force overtime at Saginaw Valley State, but the senior's fade away jumper at the end of overtime fell short, giving the Cardinals a 74-73 victory over Michigan Tech. The Huskies (16-7, 14-5 GLIAC) overcame a 16-point deficit to start the fourth quarter, but it was SVSU (17-7, 14-5 GLIAC) earning the win to pull into a tie for first place in the GLIAC North Division.

Blake notched a season-high 30 points with 24 after halftime.

Tech trailed 58-42 entering the fourth quarter and outscored the hosts 24-8. Katelyn Carriere made a layup with 6.7 remaining to give the Cardinals a 66-64 advantage. The Huskies answered at the buzzer as Blake knocked down a floater from the left elbow.

SVSU grabbed a four-point lead with 1:53 remaining in the OT. Tech missed back-to-back shots, but got stops both times to stay within 72-68. Blake then made two free throws, and the Cardinals missed two.

Lindsay Winter swished a 3-pointer with 11 seconds to go for a 73-72 advantage, but SVSU came back down and made a pull-up jumper with 1.8 seconds left.

Tech called timeout, then threw the ball from the frontcourt under the basket to Blake. Her fade away bounced off the rim as time expired.

"I liked our effort to made the comeback, but I can't be happy when we only play hard for a quarter," said Tech coach Kim Cameron. "Teams are too good in this league to put yourself in that big of a hole."

Tech shot 43 percent from the floor compared to 45 percent for the Cardinals. A big difference in the game was free throws, where the hosts made 19-of-26 and the Huskies were 13-of-17.

Blake's 30 points came on 11-of-24 field goals and 8-of-9 free throws. Kylie Moxley (11 points) and Mackenzie Perttu (10) also reached double figures, but both players had fouled out by early in the overtime.

Michigan Tech will return home for its final three games of the regular season. The first of those is Thursday (Feb. 18) vs. Northwood at 5:30 p.m.
