Video: Coach Cameron Interview

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Michigan Tech held Hillsdale to 16 field goals and forced 23 turnovers to earn a 68-41 victory over the Chargers at Potter Arena tonight. The Huskies are now 16-6 overall and 14-4 in GLIAC play.

Tech held a 31-21 lead after a sloppy first half that saw the teams combine for 24 turnovers. The Chargers had just three field goals in the opening quarter and eight for the half.

The Huskies came out with tremendous defense in the third quarter, limiting the hosts to just six points to take a 45-27 advantage into the final frame.

"We didn't move the ball very well in the first half and turned it over too many times, but our defense kept us on top," said Tech coach Kim Cameron. "I thought we were better in the second half taking the ball to the basket and handling the pressure."

Danielle Blake scored a game-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. She added a team-high seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals. Morgan Anderson (13 points) and Mackenzie Perttu (10) also reached double figures.

Lindsay Winter was a major factor in the second half and finished with eight points and five steals.

Tech finished at 48 percent from the field while HC was 31 percent. The Chargers committed 23 turnovers, which the Huskies converted into 18 points.

Only a 3-pointer at the buzzer kept it from being a second straight 30-point win over Hillsdale (Tech won 83-53 at the SDC Gym last month).

Tonight's results, paired with Northern Michigan's win at Saginaw Valley State tonight, put Michigan Tech one game up in the GLIAC North Division standings with four games to go. The Huskies will take on SVSU on Saturday (Feb. 13) in University Center. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m.
