HOUGHTON, Mich. – Morgan Anderson had 17 points and five assists while Kylie Moxley collected 12 points and 14 rebounds to carry the No. 8-ranked Michigan Tech women's basketball team to a 72-43 victory over Minnesota Duluth in nonconference action before 871 at the SDC Gym.

The Huskies shot 45 percent as a team (31-68) and dominated the glass, out-rebounding UMD by a 51-33 margin.

"I thought we did what we needed to do in our first game of the season," said Tech head coach Kim Cameron. "We protected our home floor which was one of our goals coming into the game. I thought we came out strong and set the tone early and, after a little lull early in the second half, we found our game and finished at a high level."

Michigan Tech built a 21-7 lead by the end of the first quarter and pushed the advantage to 36-15 at half. All 14 Huskies played in the second half as Tech put up another 36 points to cruise to the 72-43 win.

Danielle Blake and Brenna Heise both added eight points to the Michigan Tech attack and 12 Huskies scored at least two points. Blake added 12 rebounds.

The Huskies (1-0 overall; 0-0 GLIAC) head to St. Paul, Minn., next weekend (Nov. 20-21) to play Minnesota Crookston and Concordia St. Paul. Both games are scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
