Michigan Tech Women Ranked No. 15 This Week
HOUGHTON, Mich. — The national ranking for the Michigan Tech basketball team is up to No. 15 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II poll. The Huskies, winners of six straight games, are 15-1 on the season.
Tech defeated GLIAC North Division foes Hillsdale and Saginaw Valley State on the road last week. The Black and Gold bested the Chargers 64-57 on Thursday (Jan. 22) before holding off SVSU 69-61 on Saturday (Jan. 24).
Michigan Tech and GLIAC South Division member Wayne State (No. 10) represent the league in the national poll. The nation's No. 1 team is Great Lakes Valley Conference and Midwest Region team Lewis (19-0).
The No. 15 ranking marks the season-best for the Huskies, who first appeared in the Dec. 16 WBCA poll.
Tech plays host to a trio of foes in the next week with Northwood on Thursday (Jan. 29), Lake Superior State on Saturday (Jan. 31) and Northern Michigan on Monday (Feb. 2).
