Bloch Takes Second in 1500 Meter Run at Dr. Keeler Track & Field Invitational

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Liz Bloch of the Michigan Tech women's track & field team took second place in the 1500 Meter Run at the Dr. Keeler Track & Field Invitational hosted by North Central College this weekend. Bloch is an NCAA provisional qualifier in both the 1500 and 800 Meter Runs. The NCAA National Championship field will be announced this coming week with the championships scheduled for May 24-26 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Bloch recorded a season best and Michigan Tech school record time of 4:27.93 this weekend on her way to second place in the event. Bloch broke her own record of 4:29.88 which she set earlier this season at the Hillsdale "Gina" Relays. The Tech record coming into the season was held by Deedra Irwin who posted a time of 4:35.22 in 2015.

Bloch claimed the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship in the 1500 Meter Run last week in Ashland by crossing the line in first place with a time of 4:36.81. She placed third in the 800 Meter Run (2:16.49) at the GLIAC Championships, garnering First and Third Team All-GLIAC Honors. Bloch is currently ranked 17th nationally in NCAA Division II in the 1500 and is 31st in the national rankings in the 800m.
