Isaacson to Lead Track and Field Programs

HOUGHTON, Mich. - Michigan Tech athletic director Suzanne Sanregret announced Monday (June 27th) that current Michigan Tech graduate assistant coach Jake Isaacson has been hired as the head coach for track and field and assistant coach for cross country.

"I am really excited to take the next step in my coaching career at Michigan Tech," said Isaacson. "I am grateful for the opportunity Michigan Tech is giving me and I am looking forward to helping the student-athletes improve and excel."

Isaacson has served as a graduate assistant coach with Michigan Tech Athletics for the past year. Jake was an assistant coach with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a member of both the cross country and track and field teams at Grand Valley State earning All-American honors in cross country in 2012.

"We are very fortunate to have Jake lead our Track and Field program and assist in Cross Country. He brings energy and enthusiasm to the position," said Sanregret. "He is a great resource and has been a part of a championship program.  We believe his experience, hard-working attitude, and passion for Michigan Tech will assist in elevating the program."

Joe Haggenmiller will remain the Head Coach for Cross Country and Nordic Skiing. This hire will allow Coach Haggenmiller to focus on Nordic Skiing exclusively during the January to March sport season crossover time period of Nordic Skiing and Track & Field. During his career at Michigan Tech Coach Haggenmiller has coached 40 national qualifiers and seven All-Americans.

Jake is currently still pursuing a second graduate degree in Master of Science in Kinesiology from Michigan Tech. He also holds degrees from Indiana State University and Grand Valley State. He will begin his duties immediately.
