Maddox, Petermann Qualify for NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech track and field's Jevon Maddox and Kyle Petermann have both qualified for the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, it was announced today (May 17) by the NCAA. The Championships will be held May 26-28 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Maddox, an All-GLIAC Third Team selection, will compete in the 400-meter hurdles event after qualifying with a time of 52.80 – the fastest in Michigan Tech history – during the 2016 GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships earlier this month.

Petermann will represent the Huskies in the discus following a throw of 54.19 meters at the GVSU Last Chance Meet last week. His toss was the 11th-best in all of Division II this season and reset the Michigan Tech all-time mark.

"Jevon and Kyle certainly earned their spots in the NCAA Championships," said head coach Joe Haggenmiller. "Both of them work so hard and have incredible drive, whether it's at practice, a meet or during training. Our assistant coaches have done an awesome job of helping them prepare, and now we're excited for them to have the opportunity to represent Tech on the national stage. It's a great accomplishment for Jevon, Kyle and our program."
