Tech Men, Women Win Overall Titles; Two School Records Fall at Warrior Invite

It was a successful weekend for the Michigan Tech track and field teams, which placed first in both the men's and women's team events at the Warrior Track and Field Invitational while seeing two individual records reset and numerous first-place finishes in various events.

Jamie Dompier set the all-time Michigan Tech women's record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.48, continuing her assault on the Tech record book in that event.

Ashley Veale broke her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles, running the event in 1:03.31 – one second better than her previous record-setting effort of 1:04.85.

Dompier also won the 100-meter run, and Lauren Tetzloff (400-meter dash) and Liz Bloch (800-meter run) won their respective events. Robyn Holmes finished second in the one-mile run with a time of 5:31.71.

The Tech women earned victories in both the 4x100 and 4x400 events en route to a first-place team finish.

On the men's side, Jevon Maddox won the 400-meter dash and Tech swept the top-four spots in the event with Isaac Pringle, Michael Tuski and John Bailey finishing second through fourth.

The Huskies also dominated the one-mile run and captured four of the top five times, including Kyle Hanson's 4:19.36 winning time.

Shane McGrath won the 400-meter hurdles by nearly four seconds with a time of 55.18.

The men's 4x400 relay team captured first-place honors in that event with a time of 3:26.54.

Tech's men's squad was solid in the field events as well, with Mike Fisher (high jump), Jake Jurkowski (pole vault), Nate Hood (long jump) and Casey Buckner (javelin) all winning their respective events.

The consistently strong performances helped the men take the overall team title.

The Huskies also competed at the UW-Platteville Invitational and saw six personal records reset in the 5k run. 

Michigan Tech will travel to Allendale, Michigan, this week to take part in the Al Owens Classic on the campus of Grand Valley State.
