Pengelly 2nd-Best Time; Track Huskies Complete Day 1 at GVSU

RESULTS: Mt. SAC Relays | Al Owens Invitational Day 1

WALNUT, Calif. — Sean Pengelly raced the 10,000 meters event at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays Thursday (Apr. 16) and put down the second-fastest time in school history.

The sophomore posted a time of 30:30.41, which was 21 seconds off his own school-record pace.

"It was a great experience for Sean to compete in California against some of the best Division I and II runners in the country," said Tech coach Joe Haggenmiller. "He ran a great time, but had to deal with traffic. I'm sure he's a little disappointed he couldn't shave some off his own record."

Pengelly has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships and currently sits with one of the top 15 marks in Division II thus far in 2015.

ALLENDALE, Mich. — The Michigan Tech track and field teams took part in day one of the Al Owens Classic hosted by Grand Valley State. Only three events were completed today—triple jump, hammer throw and javelin.

Casey Buckner had the best result for the Huskies, throwing 148-3 in the men's javelin to take ninth.

Hannah Schnack covered 32-9.75 in the triple jump for 11th place.

Jonathan Vincent set a new PR in the hammer throw with a toss of 136-10 for 23rd place.

"This is a meet with a deep field of competitors," said Haggenmiller. "We had good weather today and should again tomorrow. I look forward to seeing how we stack up."
