CABLE, Wis. – Sarah Goble won her second straight race of the season, topping the field of the 10K classic as the Michigan Tech Nordic Ski team competed at the 2020 CCSA Gitchi Gami Games on Sunday (Jan. 26) from the Birkie Trailhead in Cable, Wisconsin. With two women finishing on the podium and three finishing inside the top 10, MTU took the CCSA team title for the Huskies' second CCSA win of the season.

Goble crossed the finish line of the 10K classic race in a time of 34:08.99, earning her the second straight win of the season after scoring a first-place finish in the 5K skate at the Mt. Itasca Invitational. Teammate Oda Hovland finished close behind Goble with a time of 34:13.48 to take second, while Henriette Semb crossed the finish line in sixth with a time of 35:23.57.

"Sarah is really establishing herself out front this season, showing great leadership in her senior season. We're proud of her performance today and seeing her progress throughout the rest of the season," said head coach Tom Smith. "Oda had the best race we've seen from her yet, and for her to make the podium in a race on the Birkie was great to see."

In the men's competition, Patrick Acton led the way for the Huskies as he was one of three Tech skiers to finish inside the top 10. Acton finished fourth on the day with a time of 29:28.72, while he was joined by Joshua Albrecht in ninth (30:40.59) and Somer Schrock in 10th (30:42.21).

"Patrick had a great race today, and it was a breakthrough performance from Josh to make his first top 10 finish of his career. We're really proud of him for that," Smith said. "We were missing a few of our other skiers due to illnesses, so the other guys stepped up and it was another solid weekend from the team."

The next competition for the Huskies Nordic Ski team will be the CCSA Northwoods Nordic Invitation in Rhinelander, Wisconsin on February 1-2.
