The Michigan Tech Huskies Nordic ski teams competed in their first races of the NCAA Championships today. Sonja Hedblom and Carloyn Lucca represented the women’s team in the 5K classic. The Tech men, Tomi Mikkonen, Gaspard Cuenot, and Tom Bye, raced in the 10K.

The Michigan Tech Huskies wrapped up the Central Region Skiing Championships with two classic races. The Huskies had a great day in the field, securing second place again. Three members of the women’s team cracked the top 10 in the college division – Anna Kubek led the Huskies in 7th place, with a time of 16:58.1. Gaspard Cuenot took 2nd place in the college standings and pulled 10th place overall.

The Michigan Tech Nordic Skiing Teams, both men and women, secured 2nd place in today’s mass freestyle races at the NCAA Central Region Championship in Ishpeming, Mich. Leading the 20K freestyle in points for the men’s team was Tom Bye, Gaspard Cuenot, and Daniel Wood, earning 41 points. In the 15K, the women locked in 39 points. The top contributors were Sonja Hedblom, Anna Kubek, and Carolyn Lucca.
