Bye Sees First Action at World Junior Championship

ALMATY, Kazakhstan — Michigan Tech's Tom Bye saw his first action at the World Junior Skiing Championship today with a men's 10-kilometer freestyle.

The Huskies' freshman was the third American and 69th overall in the race with a time of 27:26.8. The men's champion had a 23:36.4 clocking.

Bye and Tech teammate Deedra Irwin are both representing Team USA at the event. Bye will race again on Friday (Feb. 6) in the skiathlon, a freestyle/classic hybrid. Irwin will also race a skiathlon on Saturday (Feb. 7).
