Flanders is All-American in Freestyle

Alice Flanders, of the Michigan Tech Nordic ski team, wrapped up the 2014 NCAA Skiing Championships with an All-American performance in the women’s 15-kilometer mass start freestyle race. She finished 10th overall.
Hedblom Leads Junior Skiers in Freestyle

Sonja Hedblom led the Michigan Tech Nordic skiers at the 2014 USSA Junior National Cross Country Ski Championships on Friday (March. 7) with an eighth place finish in the women's 10-kilometer freestyle.

The six Michigan Tech Nordic skiers who are the 2014 USSA Junior National Cross Country Ski Championships skied the classic sprint races on Wednesday (March 5). Ulrika Axelsson was again the top skier for the Huskies with a second place finish.

Six members of the Michigan Tech Nordic ski teams are at the Trapp Family Lodge to race in the 2014 USSA Junior National Cross Country Ski Championships. On Monday (March 3), Ulrika Axelsson had the top finish of the day with a 4th place finish in the women’s 5-kilometer classic.
Thirteen Tech Skiers Named to USCSCA National All-Academic Team

The United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association announced the 2014 National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team Wednesday (Feb. 26), which consists of 255 skiers from 30 schools. Michigan Tech had 13 Nordic skiers honored.

Michigan Tech Nordic skiers and coaches were a handful of about 10,000 who competed in the 41st American Birkebeiner on Saturday (Feb. 22). The Birkie is the largest cross country ski race in North America and dates back to 1973.

Flanders Fifth in Freestyle at Regional

The NCAA Central Region Championships, hosted by Michigan Tech, wrapped up on Sunday (Feb. 16) with the freestyle races. Alice Flanders led the Huskies for the second day in a row with a fifth place finish in the women’s 10-kilometer. She qualified for the NCAA Skiing Championship but the official announcement won’t be made until Feb. 25.
