Michigan Tech Tennis Falls at Wayne 8-1

DETROIT — Michigan Tech lost 8-1 in GLIAC men's tennis today at Wayne State. The Huskies fell to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in league play.

Although it had strong efforts at every flight, Tech's lone victory came at No. 3 singles. Pedro Rodriguez came from a set down to earn a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win and the Huskies' lone point.

One other match went to a third set (No. 2 singles, where Javier Oliveros was defeated 6-2, 3-6, 6-0).

Three others featured tiebreakers: Felipe Dos Santos dropped a 6-2, 7-6 (5) decision at No. 1 singles; Built Yumuang was also edged at No. 4 (by a 6-4, 7-6 (5) count); and No. 1 doubles pair Dos Santos and Rodriguez lost 9-8 (6).

Wayne State improved to 3-1 in GLIAC play with the victory.

Tech will have another tough match Sunday (Mar. 30) with a 10 a.m. tilt at Northwood.
