Timberwolves Defeat Huskies 7-2 in Men's Tennis

MIDLAND, Mich. — Northwood topped Michigan Tech 7-2 in GLIAC men's tennis today. The Huskies earned points at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles, but it wasn't enough to keep from falling to 8-6 overall and 3-4 in league action.

Tech, playing its fourth consecutive top league opponent, battled hard against the Timberwolves (8-3, 4-1 GLIAC). The Huskies trailed just 2-1 after doubles.

Felipe Dos Santos and Pedro Rodriguez earned a 9-8 triumph at the top doubles flight. The hosts won the other two doubles matches by 8-3 and 8-5 scores, respectively.

Dos Santos also earned a win at No. 1 singles when Jean Menard retired late in the first set with the score tied 5-all.

Northwood won all five other singles matches in straight sets. Senior Jimmy Konarske had the closest of those at No. 6, where he lost 6-2, 6-3.

Michigan Tech will try to snap a four-match skid when it plays its final regular season road match at Lake Superior State on Saturday (April 5).
