HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech fell 2-1 in overtime to Bowling Green Friday (Dec. 1) at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. It was the seventh overtime for the Huskies this season who are now 3-2-2 in the extra session.

"We started out good but didn't play very well collectively," Tech coach Joe Shawhan said. "There wasn't much skill involved in the game, and we missed Arvid tonight. He's the heart of our team.

"I give Bowling Green credit. They really wanted to beat us, and they took over the game and beat us."

Logan Pietila scored the lone goal for the Huskies when he gave the home team the lead 10:56 into the second period. Isaac Gordon fed the puck out front from the corner and the captain fired low glove for his fifth of the season and 37th of his career. Ryland Mosley added the second assist.

BGSU (5-10-0, 3-4-0 CCHA) tied the game 3:54 into the third period when Brandon Santa Juana scored his first career goal with a shot through traffic from Owen Ozar and Tommy Pasanen.

In the overtime, Tech had a great opportunity for the game-winner when Chase Pietila hit the crossbar on a rebound 40 seconds in. The Falcons went back on a breakaway the other way, but Blake Pietila made a huge save.

The Falcons regrouped, and Owen Ozar had a rush up the ice and ripped in the game-winner 64 seconds into the extra period. Tommy Pasanen and Ryan O'Hara assisted on the goal.

BGSU led in shots 30-26. Blake Pietila had 28 saves for the Huskies, and Cole Moore got the win with 25 saves for the visitors.

Tech (6-7-3, 4-3-0 CCHA) was 4-for-4 on the penalty kill and 0-for-4 on the power play.

The teams will wrap up the series at 6:07 p.m. Saturday.

"I think we'll be better tomorrow," Logan Pietila said. "We have to come out hard and get more pucks to the net and be stronger in the O zone."

It will be the annual Teddy Bear Toss during the first intermission.
