BEMIDJI, Minn. – Michigan Tech won its CCHA opener 4-2 at Bemidji State Friday (Nov. 10), picking up the third straight victory. Arvid Caderoth was in on all four goals with two goals and two assists. Lauri Raiman and Jack Works also scored.

"We played a good third period even though we had those penalties," Tech coach Joe Shawhan said. "I'm happy for Arvid. There's no one that puts in more effort and time than he does. His line got all four goals tonight

"I enjoy this group. They compete hard and play hard. We still have to get better in our defensive corp but we'll do it little by little and we keep seeing signs of growth."

The Huskies jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. Arvid Caderoth scored his first of the season 9:52 into the game when he gathered the puck and chipped in a rebound on the power play. Max Koskipirtti's initial shot was saved and Jed Pietila added the second assist.

Lauri Raiman added to the lead 1:32 later with a rebound goal similar to the first. Kasper Vaharautio took a shot from the point that deflected off of Caderoth. With the goaltender down and out of position, Raiman tapped in his second of the season.

The Beavers cut into the lead with a quick snap shot through traffic off the stick of Kyle Looft from the top of the circle. Austin Jouppi and Jackson Jutting assisted on the goal with 2:27 left in the first.

Arvid Caderoth pushed it back to a two-goal game 7:09 into the second. Ryland Mosley stole the puck down below the goal line and fed it out front. Caderoth flipped it past the goaltender's glove for his 10th career goal.

The Huskies were then whistled on four straight penalties. After a too-many-men call, the Beavers scored 4:57 into the third to make it a 3-2 game. Liam Engstrom got the goal from Carter Jones and Kyle Looft.

BSU pulled its goaltender with 1:15 remaining and then used a late timeout. The Huskies were able to work the puck out of the defensive zone, and Jack Works skated in for an empty net goal with 14.2 seconds left. Arvid Caderoth and Lauri Raiman assisted on the second goal of the season for Works.

Tech outshot BSU 30-20. Blake Pietila won his 60th career game with 18 saves. He also benefited from a pair of shots that hit his posts in the second period, and Trevor Russell blocked four shots in front of him. Gavin Enright stopped 26 shots for the home team. Kyle Kukkonen, Ryland Mosley, and Arvid Caderoth each accumulated five shots on goal.

The Huskies were 1-for-3 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.

The teams will wrap up the CCHA series at 7:07 p.m. Eastern Saturday.
