HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech head hockey coach Joe Shawhan has named Raymond Brice the captain of the 2019-20 Huskies. Alex Smith and Seamus Donohue will serve as alternate captains.

"Ray, Alex, and Seamus were chosen by their teammates and coaches as the individuals that represent the standards of Michigan Tech and the traditions of this great program," Shawhan said. "As a staff, we are very excited for the upcoming season and this leadership team will be vitally important to our success. They lead by example and understand the direction of the coaching staff and support their teammates both on and off the ice. I will enjoy watching them evolve their leadership skills and inspire us all through their example."

Brice, a hometown product of Houghton, Michigan, has played 67 games in three seasons with the Huskies and has twice been named to the WCHA All-Academic Team. Last season he received the Rick Yeo Unsung Hero Award after skating in 28 games while scoring three goals and adding six assists. Brice has tallied nine points in each of the last two seasons with seven career goals and 11 assists.

He had over 20 points in each of his first two seasons and tallied four goals and 10 assists as a junior. Smith is a two-time WCHA All-Academic Team member and attended the Calgary Flames Development Camp in July 2017.

Donohue is a junior defenseman from North Oaks, Minnesota. He played all 38 games last year and received the team's Gitzen-Loutit Memorial Award as the outstanding defensive player. He was also named a WCHA Scholar-Athlete and to the WCHA All-Academic Team. Donohue led the team with 21 assists and was second on the team and ninth in the WCHA with 58 blocked shots. In his first season, he received the Norbert Matovich Memorial Award as the team's top freshman after appearing in 40-of-44 games.
