Hockey unveils 2019-20 schedule

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech hockey program announced its 2019-20 schedule on Wednesday (May 8) in conjunction with the WCHA unveiling its composite schedule. The Huskies have 37 regular season games on the schedule that includes nine nonconference and 28 WCHA contests.

The 99th season of Tech hockey begins with the first-ever meeting against Robert Morris in Pittsburgh on October 5-6. The conference and home opener is the following weekend (Oct. 11-12) against Alaska. The month wraps up at Bowling Green on October 25-26.

Tech plays in the US Hockey Hall of Fame Game for the second time in three years this time at North Dakota on November 2. The last time the two met was on March 17, 2013. The Huskies host defending WCHA regular season and playoff champions Minnesota State on November 8-9. Tech travels to Lake Superior State on November 15-16 and then plays Northern Michigan the following weekend (Nov. 22-23). Friday's game against the Wildcats will be in Houghton. The month wraps up at Alaska the day after Thanksgiving (Nov. 29-30).

Alaska Anchorage comes to Houghton on December 6-7 followed by Clarkson's first-ever trip to the MacInnes Student Ice Arena on December 13-14. Dates for the 55th Great Lakes Invitational at Little Caesars Arena have not yet been determined. The Huskies will open against Michigan State with Ferris State and Michigan playing in the other semifinal. The Bulldogs will make their second appearance (2014) at the GLI.

The New Year begins at Arizona State on January 4-5. The Huskies return home to host BGSU (Jan. 10-11) in their second meeting of the season and then another January trip to Bemidji State (Jan. 17-18). Ferris State comes to Houghton on January 24-25 and a road trip to Alabama Huntsville (Jan. 31-Feb. 1) wraps up the busy month.

The LSSU Lakers are the Winter Carnival opponent on February 7-8 for the second time ever. The last road series is on February 14-15 at Ferris State for the second meeting in four weeks. The regular season wraps up against NMU on February 28-29. Friday's game will be in Marquette with Senior Night on Saturday in Houghton.

Season and individual game tickets for the 2019-20 season will go on sale in early June.
