Reinke joins St. Louis Blues in Stanley Cup Playoffs
HOUGHTON, Mich. – Former Michigan Tech hockey player Mitch Reinke was called up to the St. Louis Blues on Monday (April 22) for their Stanley Cup Playoff run. The Blues advanced to the second round with a 3-2 series win over Winnipeg Saturday (April 20) and will play the winner of the Dallas-Nashville series.
Reinke, a 23-year-old native of Stillwater, Minnesota, played all 76 games this season for the San Antonio Rampage, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Blues. He was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team after setting franchise rookie records for goals (12), assists (33), points (45), and power play goals (9). He was also the first Rampage rookie to play in every game of the season and led AHL rookie defensemen with 45 points.
Reinke played two seasons for the Huskies, appearing in 76 games. He was named to the All-WCHA Third Team as a sophomore and to the WCHA All-Rookie Team as a freshman, tallying 44 points on nine goals and 35 assists for the Huskies. He was an alternate captain as a sophomore and was named to the GLI and Ice Vegas Invitational all-tournament teams and to the WCHA All-Academic Team.
Reinke was originally signed by the Blues as a free agent on March 26, 2018 and made his NHL debut on March 31, 2018. He joins the NHL club with six of his teammates from the Rampage.
