ArcelorMittal Sponsoring 7th Man T-Shirts for Tech Students

HOUGHTON, Mich.ArcelorMittal, the world's leading steel and mining company, is sponsoring Friday's Michigan Tech hockey game and donating 1,000 7th Man T-shirts. All fans are encouraged to wear black to the game and Blackout the Mac.

It is the fourth year in a row ArcelorMittal is a game sponsor. ArcelorMittal employs over 60 Michigan Tech graduates with around 232,000 employees in more than 60 countries. They are the leader in all major global steel markets, including automotive, construction, household appliances and packaging. Underpinning all their operations is a philosophy to produce safe, sustainable steel.

"We thank ArcelorrMittal for their continued support of Husky hockey," Tech hockey coach Joe Shawhan said. "They obviously see the value in our students with the amount of Michigan Tech graduates that the employ. It's going to be a fun weekend of hockey, and we're happy our student section will be covered in black."

Coach Shawhan and players Mark Auk, Jake Jackson, and Mitch Reinke attended Steel Day on September 20 to meet ArcelorMittal staff.

"We are very excited to have this opportunity to sponsor the 7th Man T-shirts again," said Joe Nowosad, ArcelorMittal's lead recruiter for Michigan Tech. "When we started this four years ago it was such a huge success that we filled the Mac to capacity both nights on the home-opening weekend. That was the first time for a non-Winter Carnival crowd ever, and we're hoping for a repeat this weekend."

One hundred of the T-shirts will be handed out at a live radio remote on Wednesday from Noon-1 p.m. at the Husky statue on main campus. Hockey coaches and players will be on campus to promote this weekend's home-opening series against Alabama Huntsville.

The remaining 7th Man T-shirts will be handed out at the Experience Tech student entrance at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena before Friday night's game.

Tickets are still available for the WCHA series against the Chargers. The puck drops at 7:07 p.m. each night. Stop by the Central Ticket Office, visit BuyHuskiesTickets.com, or call 906-487-2073 to get your tickets today.

The first 750 Michigan Tech students entering the Experience Tech student entrance, with a valid Tech ID, have seats available in sections J-O on a first come first serve basis. The entrance opens one hour prior to each game. As always, a student shuttle will run between the dorms and the SDC beginning at 6 p.m. on game nights.
