Hockey announces 2017-18 team awards

The Michigan Tech hockey team recently passed out its annual awards at a team dinner. Forward Jake Lucchini received the Merv Youngs Award as the team most valuable player. Seven different Huskies were recognized on the night.
Six former Huskies on AHL Calder Cup rosters

Six former Michigan Tech hockey players are on American Hockey League (AHL) teams for the 2018 Calder Cup Playoffs. Dane Birks and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins play the Charlotte Checkers, Chris Conner and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms matchup with the Providence Bruins, Tanner Kero and the Rockford IceHogs play the Chicago Wolves, and Shane Hanna, Joel L’Esperance and the Texas Stars open against Matt Roy and the Ontario Reign.
Lucchini, Munson, Donohue named WCHA Players of Month

Copley called up to Washington Capitals to begin Stanley Cup Playoffs

Former Michigan Tech goaltender Pheonix Copley was called up to the NHL’s Washington Capitals on Thursday (April 12) senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced. The Capitals host the Columbus Blue Jackets Thursday in Game 1 of their Stanley Cup Playoff series.
Four former Huskies on ECHL Kelly Cup rosters

Four former Michigan Tech hockey players are on four ECHL teams for the 2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Angus Redmond (Toledo Walleye), Riley Sweeney (Indy Fuel), Shane Hanna (Idaho Steelheads), and Cliff Watson (Colorado Eagles) are all playing in their first Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Phillips called up to Winnipeg Jets to begin Stanley Cup Playoffs

Former Michigan Tech goaltender Jamie Phillips was called up to the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets the team announced on Wednesday (April 11). The Jets begin the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs Wednesday, hosting the Minnesota Wild at Bell MTS Place.
Hockey ranked in final USCHO.com poll for fourth straight season

For the fourth year in a row, the Michigan Tech hockey team is ranked in the top 20 in the final USCHO.com poll. The Huskies finished 2017-18 ranked No. 16 in the nation after a 22-17-5 overall record.
Auk signs ATO with Iowa Wild

Michigan Tech senior defenseman Mark Auk signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Iowa Wild the team announced Friday (March 30). Iowa is the primary AHL affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild.
Houghton ranked a top 10 US hockey city for fourth straight year

For the fourth year in a row, Houghton has been named a top 10 hockey city in America. The hometown of the Michigan Tech Huskies checked in at No. 7 this year. SmartAsset, a personal finance technology company headquartered in New York, released its fourth annual ranking on March 20.
L’Esperance signs ATO with Texas Stars

Michigan Tech hockey senior forward Joel L'Esperance has signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Texas Stars the team announced Tuesday (March 27) evening. Texas is the primary AHL affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars.

Michigan Tech hockey senior defenseman Dane Birks has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, announced executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford Tuesday (March 27) evening.
Reinke signs with St. Louis Blues, Forgoes final two seasons at Tech

Michigan Tech defenseman Mitch Reinke agreed to a two-year entry-level contract with the St. Louis Blue of the National Hockey League. Reinke, 22, will report to St. Louis this week and is eligible to play in the regular season. He was a free agent.
Huskies season ends with OT loss in NCAA Tournament

Michigan Tech’s Cinderella run through the playoffs finally came to an end Friday (March 23) in the NCAA East Region Semifinal. The No. 18-ranked Huskies fell 4-3 in overtime to No. 2 Notre Dame at Webster Bank Arena.

PREVIEW: Huskies open NCAA Tournament versus Notre Dame

Michigan Tech earned the WCHA's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament and will play second-seeded Notre Dame on Friday. The Huskies will play the Fighting Irish at 3 p.m. Eastern at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut in the East Regional.
