October
The 97th season of Michigan Tech hockey begins at the 2017 Ice Breaker College Hockey Tournament hosted by the University of Minnesota Duluth at Amsoil Arena on October 6-7. The Huskies open up against Union on October 6 with Minnesota Duluth and Minnesota facing off in the second semifinal.
WCHA play opens at Lake Superior State on October 13-14 at Taffy Abel Arena. Tech begins the home schedule the following weekend (Oct. 20-21), hosting Alabama Huntsville. The month wraps up at the Verizon Wireless Center against Minnesota State on October 27-28.
November
November is a full slate of WCHA games. Bowling Green comes back to Houghton on November 3-4 in a rematch of the 2017 WCHA Championship Game. The first two of a four-game season set against UP-rival Northern Michigan is November 10-11. The two teams will meet in Houghton on Friday and Marquette Saturday. The Black and Gold will then head up to the Great White North for Thanksgiving break, playing Alaska Anchorage first (Nov. 17-18) and Alaska the following weekend (Nov. 24-25).
December
A pair of WCHA series at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena take up the December schedule. Ferris State comes in on December 8-9, and the four-game season series with LSSU wraps up the following weekend (Dec. 15-16).
January
The New Year begins with the inaugural Ice Vegas Invitational on January 5-6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Arizona State, Boston College, and Northern Michigan will also participate in the first-ever college hockey games at T-Mobile Arena.
The Huskies host Alaska on January 19-20 and then travel to Big Rapids and Ewigleben Ice Arena on January 26-27 to play the Ferris State Bulldogs in their second meeting of the season.
February
Tech travels to Bowling Green on February 2-3 for the final road series of the season before playing Bemidji State in the annual Winter Carnival (Feb. 9-10) series for the second time in three seasons. The Huskies have claimed five straight MacInnes Cup victories in the total goal series.
Arizona State makes its first-ever trip to Houghton on February 16-17 in their third season of Division I hockey. The regular season wraps up with the final WCHA series against NMU on February 23-24. Tech treks 100 miles to Marquette Friday and wraps up the season on Senior Night at home on Saturday.
