Heinonen Named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week

EDINA, Minn. – Michigan Tech junior forward Tyler Heinonen (Delano, Minn.) was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week today (Nov. 23) by the league.

Heinonen collected six points (3-3) to help the No. 19 Huskies win and tie at Michigan State last weekend (Nov. 21-22). The Delano, Minn., native scored twice – including the game-winning overtime marker – and added two assists in Saturday's 5-4 overtime win before notching one goal and one assist in the series finale Sunday.

Heinonen's four-point night Saturday is the highest single-game total in his Michigan Tech career. On top of the six points, he also put 13 shots on net and was a plus-5 in the series.

The Huskies are on the road this weekend (Nov. 27-28) for two WCHA games at Alaska. Both contests start at 11:07 p.m. ET and can be seen live on WCHA.tv.
