2015-16 Michigan Tech Hockey Season Opens in 50 Days

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech hockey team opens its 2015-16 schedule Oct. 9 – exactly 50 days from today – with the first of two exhibition contests against Laurentian University at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena.

Michigan Tech's 34-game regular-season schedule features 14 outings at home. Additionally, the Huskies make trips to the 51st Annual Great Lakes Invitational in Detroit (Dec. 29-30) and the Desert Hockey Classic in Glendale, Ariz. (Jan. 8 and 10).

Tech returns 24 players off last year's squad, including four who earned All-WCHA honors – goaltender Jamie Phillips (First Team), forwards Malcolm Gould and Alex Petan (Second Team), and defenseman Shane Hanna (Third Team).

The Huskies, who compiled a 29-10-2 overall record in 2014-15, started the season 10-0-0 overall and climbed to the No. 1 ranking in the national polls. Tech also hosted a WCHA first-round playoff series for the first time since 1992-93 and advanced to its first NCAA tournament in 34 years.
