Tech Ranked No. 11 This Week
HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech is ranked No. 11 in this week's USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Polls. The Huskies are 15-6-1 overall and 10-3-1 in the WCHA and host No. 7 Bowling Green this weekend (Jan. 16-17) at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena.
Tech has the second most wins in the country and is in the midst of a nine-game home stretch. Only one point separates the two teams in the WCHA standings with the Huskies in second and the Falcons in third. The teams played each other six times last year with four regular season meetings plus two more in the WCHA playoffs.
Friday night's game starts at 7:07 p.m. with Saturday's puck drop at 5:07 p.m. due to the planned Portage Lake Lift Bridge Closure beginning at 9 p.m. later that night.
After starting the season unranked, the Huskies climbed to No. 1 on Nov. 17 for the first time since 1976. They remained in the top 10 from Nov. 3 until Monday (Jan. 12).
Tadych's Econo Foods of Houghton has purchased 500 youth tickets for Saturday's Michigan Tech Athletic events. Econo Foods will give away the tickets on a first-come, first-served basis at its service counter beginning at noon Wednesday (Jan. 14). They are free of charge, and anyone can pick up the youth tickets with a limit of five per customer. The tickets are good for the noon women's basketball game, 2 p.m. men's basketball game, and 5:07 p.m. hockey game.
Tech is offering a special ticket price of $120 for reserved seats for the final 10 home games. It's a savings of $50 off the regular price. Youth tickets are also $5 for the remaining home games.
The final 10 game ticket package can't be purchased online. Get your tickets now by stopping in at the Central Ticket Office in the SDC or calling 906-487-2073. Single game tickets can be purchased online at BuyHuskiesTickets.com.
