Huskies host Gophers for Big WCHA Series; Tailgate Party Saturday

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech will host unanimous WCHA favorite Minnesota this weekend at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena in an important, early-season league series. Both teams are coming off impressive non-conference wins last Saturday and will clash for the first time since they split a series in Minneapolis last December.

Games are both Friday (Oct. 19) and Saturday (Oct. 20) nights at 7:07 p.m.

The Gophers enter as the top-ranked team in college hockey, and the Huskies have had success against top teams recently. Tech went 3-2-2 against teams ranked in the nation's top three a year ago including a split with the then No. 2-ranked Gophers at Mariucci Arena.

Tickets for both games are still available. Due to demand, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets prior to game day to secure their seats. Family and group discounts are available. Call 906-487-2073 or visit BuyHuskiesTickets.com for ticket information.

Prior to Saturday's game, there will be a free tailgate party at the main entrance to the SDC from 5-7 p.m. The Library Restaurant will serve chili, while the Continental Fire Co. and Coca-Cola will be providing hot and cold beverages. WKMJ Mix 93.5 FM will play music for the event. Other activities will include appearances by Blizzard T. Husky and the Michigan Tech Pep Band. The event is open to the public as a gathering place to celebrate the start of another hockey season.

Both games will be televised live on Fox Sports North. FSN Detroit will carry Friday's game live. The Score Television Network in Canada will carry Saturday's game live with a replay Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
