About the Lakers

Grand Valley State concluded the regular season on a four game win streak, besting the top-three teams in the league before outlasting Michigan Tech 92-86 at the SDC Gymnasium.

With the hot streak to end the regular season, the Lakers earned the fourth seed in the GLIAC Tournament with an overall record of 14-14 and 11-7 in the league.

The Lakers are peaking at the right time with an impressive double-overtime thriller at Northern Michigan (106-99) before fending off Michigan Tech (92-86) on Saturday.

Marius Grazulis earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades for his efforts in the weekend sweep. He posted his fifth double-double of the season with a 22 point and 10 rebound outing against Northern Michigan and followed that up with tying his career-high in points with 24 to go with five rebounds and two blocks against the Huskies. This marked his first GLIAC Player of the Week honor of the season.

Grazulis is one of the top offensive rebounders in the country, averaging 3.3 per game, ranking tops in the league and 18th in the country. Overall, he averages a team-leading 7.5 rebounds. Ethan Alderink contributes over two offensive rebounds for the Lakers.

William Dunn paces a quartet of Lakers scoring in double-figures with 11.3 points per outing. Britain Harris joins him as the second player to score over 300 points this season, contributing 11.2.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech earned the fifth seed in the GLIAC Tournament following a weekend split to conclude the regular season. MTU handled Davenport 88-61 behind a 29-point performance by Marcus Tomashek before being outlasted by Grand Valley State 92-86 on Saturday.

The Huskies have won six of its last eight games for an overall record of 11-16 and 8-10 in the loop.

Tomashek continues to be the top scorer in the league and ninth nationally, averaging 22.5 points per game with 29 points on Thursday and 23 Saturday. His 608 points scored this season ranks first in the GLIAC and 16th nationally.

Dan Gherezgher led all scorers with 25 points against the Lakers, shooting nine-for-12 from the field in 26 minutes of action.

Pete Calcaterra went a perfect seven-for-seven from the field in Thursday's win and continues to be the team's leading rebounder with 6.2 boards per game.

One Last Thing

Michigan Tech dropped both contests against the Lakers earlier this year. However, the Huskies return almost the full squad from last year's team that made it to the GLIAC Tournament Championship game as an eight seed with wins over No. 1 seed Parkside and No. 5 seed Grand Valley State.
