Men’s Basketball Season Kickoff Event Tickets Available

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech men's basketball has announced it will host a Basketball Raffle Fundraiser Saturday, October 30 from 7-9 p.m. at Bonfire Steakhouse in Houghton (408 E Montezuma Ave) banquet hall.

Proceeds will help fund a trip abroad for the team to Greece next August. This special event includes dinner with current players and coaches, as well as a silent auction, reverse raffle drawing, and other games featuring a myriad of exciting prizes. Those in attendance will also be treated to a presentation previewing all things Huskies basketball in 2021-22. Tickets must be purchased by October 23.

DETAILS

-Silent auction items include signed sports jerseys by Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) and Davante Adams (Green Bay Packers). Also, vintage Michigan Tech basketball jerseys signed by current players, club seat tickets to a Green Bay Packers football game, and more. Those unable to attend may also bid on silent auction items through an online livestream.

-Reverse raffle: All tickets go into a drum and the last ticket drawn out is the winner of a large cash grand prize ($4,000 with minimum 150 tickets sold). 7 other prizes for additional selected numbers. Maximum 200 raffle tickets will be sold.

-Cash bar for all participants 21 or older.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The defending GLIAC North Division Champion men's basketball team is coming off a historic season which included a run to the GLIAC Tournament Championship. 

The Huskies qualified for the NCAA Midwest Region Tournament for the 11th time in program history last spring and return with GLIAC Player of the Year and NABC All-American Owen White (Rhinelander, Wisconsin).

Tech is coached by two former Husky All-Americans. Josh Buettner is in his 14th season on the staff and his first as head coach. Assistant Coach Ben Stelzer made his triumphant return after stints playing professionally in Spain and coaching at various levels. Assistant Coach Rae Drake is in his eighth season overall with the program and remains a local coaching legend in the Upper Peninsula for high school and college level student-athletes alike.
