Huskies Wrap up Successful Camp with Annual Spring Game

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech football team wrapped up a successful 2018 spring camp with the annual spring game scrimmage Saturday afternoon at Sherman Field. A large crowd turned out to watch the contest that featured the Huskies' offensive units against the defensive units.

"There were some good things on both sides of the ball this afternoon," Head Coach Steve Olson said. "I was happy with how the offense came out and executed and moved the ball down the field. They showed some consistency which was good to see. Defensively, there are some things we have to do a little bit better, but I thought there was some aggressiveness and physicality and overall saw some nice things from both our offense and defense."

The offense ended up prevailing in the modified scoring system used in Saturday's game. The Huskies posted a pair of touchdowns and moved the chains for first downs. However, the Tech defense countered with an interception and fumble recovery along with two sacks to account for a number of their points.

Tech will now get set for the 2018 season opener coming up in August. The Huskies will kick off the 2018 campaign at Truman State Thursday night August 30th at 8 p.m. Tech's home opener is slated for Saturday September 8th against Hillsdale at 1 p.m.
