Huskies to Hold Annual Spring Game Scrimmage Saturday

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech football team will host the 2018 Spring Game scrimmage Saturday afternoon (April 21) at Sherman Field. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

However, due to the recent snow the bleachers and hillside are not accessible. Fans are welcome though to bring lawn chairs to sit or stand around the field and watch the contest. The game will be an opportunity for fans to see some key returners along with the younger up and coming players on the roster.

The format for this year's game will be a little bit different from last year's contest. Instead of dividing into two teams, the offense will compete against the defense and points will be awarded based on a variety of factors below.

Offensive Scoring

  • Touchdown = 6 points
  • Extra Point = 1 point
  • Field Goal = 3 points
  • First Down = 1 point

Defensive Scoring

  • Turnovers = 7 points
  • 3-and-outs = 3 points
  • Stop = 1 point
  • Sack = 2 points

The Huskies will open the 2018 season at Truman State Thursday night August 30th at 8 p.m. Tech's home opener is slated for Saturday September 8th against Hillsdale at 1 p.m.
