Team White Rallies to Beat Team Black 14-13 in Football Spring Game

HOUGHTON, Mich. – James Henderson and Eric Kostreva both scored fourth-quarter touchdowns to help Team White notch 14 unanswered points in a come-from-behind 14-13 victory over Team Black in the 2016 Michigan Tech football spring game today (April 16) at Sherman Field.

A pair of touchdowns by Team Black helped it build a 13-0 lead entering the fourth, but the White squad chipped away and eventually pulled to within six when Henderson scampered in from four yards out. The scoring play came after a solid drive from Team White, a series on which Henderson had several carries in key spots to keep the ball on the move.

The Team White defense stood tall on the drive following the Henderson touchdown and forced a turnover to set its offense up inside the 25 yard line. White again moved the ball methodically down the field before Jake Brown hit Kostreva with a perfect pass in the flat for a six-yard touchdown and the game-winning score.

Team Black carried a 7-0 edge into halftime thanks to a six-year touchdown grab by David Falish and increased its lead to 13-0 on a 15-yard John Williams run early in the third quarter before Team White started its comeback.

Today's game marked the end of spring practice for the Huskies, who will join back together in August for fall practice ahead of a Sept. 3 home-opener against Walsh.
