Football Huskies Picked Fourth in GLIAC Preseason Poll

BAY CITY, Mich. — Michigan Tech was picked fourth in the North Division in the 2014 GLIAC Preseason Football Coaches' Poll, which released today on the league's football media day website, GLIAC.org/MediaDay/fball/2014. Grand Valley State topped the North Division poll while Ohio Dominican headed the South Division results.

The Huskies garnered 30 points in the poll, trailing GVSU (49), Ferris State (42) and Saginaw Valley State (35). The others in the eight-team division were Hillsdale (26), Wayne State (21), Northern Michigan (12) and Northwood (9).

In the seven-team South Division, ODU (36) is followed by Findlay (30), Ashland (27), Lake Erie (16), Walsh (16), Tiffin (14) and Malone (8).

Tech finished fourth in last year's North standings with a 6-4 record. The Huskies have placed fourth or better each of the last four seasons with a 28-13 record over that span.

Coach Tom Kearly and his squad open practice for the 2014 season on Thursday (Aug. 14). The Huskies open the season Thursday, Sept. 4, at Wayne State. They play their home opener Sept. 20 vs. Saginaw Valley State.
