Tech Student-Athletes Participate in March Reading Month

HOUGHTON, Mich. – During the week of March 23-27, student-athletes from nearly every team at Michigan Tech took time to visit Houghton Elementary and Barkell Elementary for March Reading Month.

In an effort to establish community outreach and promote the importance of education to these kids, student-athletes met with several classes to read books and talk about life as a student-athlete at Michigan Tech. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee organized the event which was truly one enjoyed by both the athletes and kids of the Houghton/Hancock area.

The next SAAC-hosted event will be Bounce-O-Rama on Sunday, April 12 from noon-5 p.m. at the Student Development Complex.

Tickets for the Bounce-O-Rama are $10 at the door or $8 in advance by stopping by or calling the SDC Ticket Office (906-487-2073). The event is geared toward children ages 2-12. Adults are admitted free with their children.

All proceeds from the event will benefit SAAC’s ongoing Make-A-Wish cause.
