Houghton, Mich. – The Ferris State University men's ice hockey squad collected its fourth victory of the year with a 3-2 win over Michigan Tech at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena on Friday (Nov. 17).

Ferris State (4-6-1) traveled for its second road Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) series of the year and topped the Huskies for a fourth overtime victory. The Bulldogs got a massive performance from goaltender Logan Stein in the win, who stopped 43 of 45 shots faced (.956 save percentage).

Michigan Tech scored first in Friday's game, taking a 1-0 lead at the 11:25 mark in the first period on Arvid Caderoth's third goal of the season. Chase Pietila took a shot that Stein saved, and Caderoth fired a shot off the rebound that beat Stein to the back side. Pietila and Lauri Raiman assisted.

Ferris State answered the Huskies' goal with a power play conversion at 18:39 in the first period. Antonio Venuto scored his team-leading seventh goal of the year (team-leading third power play goal) to knot the score 1-1. Travis Shoudy took a shot from the point that Venuto tipped in, earning Shoudy his team-best ninth assist of the season. Luigi Benincasa also assisted.

The Bulldogs claimed a lead early in period two, thanks again to Venuto. His eighth scoring strike of the year came again from Shoudy, this time one-minute into the second period. Jack Mesic also tallied a helper. Venuto's eight goals this year are currently tied for second-most in the CCHA.

Ferris State did not hold that lead for long, as the Huskies answered 1:26 later on the power play. Matthew Campbell scored his first career goal at 2:26 to tie the game 2-2. Logan Pietila and Ryland Mosley assisted.

Neither team scored in the third period, sending the Bulldogs to their sixth overtime contest of the year in 11 games. Just 1:07 into overtime, Jason Brancheau won it for Ferris State. He converted on a 3-on-1 rush for the Bulldogs, beating Max Vayrynen for the game-winner. It was Brancheau's fourth goal of the year and second game-winning tally in overtime.

Benincasa assisted on Brancheau's goal, giving him two assists in the Bulldog win. Shoudy also had two assists, while Venuto recorded two goals. Stein faced 12 shots in the first period, 19 in the second and 14 in the third. He saved all but two of the 45 attempts from Michigan Tech.

The Bulldogs were 1-4 on the power play, converting on a 5-minute penalty to Jack Works. FSU also killed 4-of-5 penalties they committed, including a 5-minute penalty to Brenden MacLaren. The Huskies won 30 faceoffs, while the Bulldogs won 27, including 10 that came from Zach Faremouth. Venuto lead the Bulldogs with six shots on goal.
