VOLLEYBALL
Tech began GLIAC play by going 2-1 at the SDC Gym over the weekend to improve to 7-4 overall. The Huskies fell 3-2 to Grand Valley State on Friday and swept Davenport Saturday and Ferris State Sunday. Lindy Oujiri (4.33 k/s) and Anna Jonynas (4.18 k/s) led the offense. Laura De Marchi (11.73 a/s) set the attack, and Megan Utlak (5.09 d/s) led the defense. Tech travels to Lake Superior State on Friday and Northwood on Saturday for a pair of GLIAC road matches.

SOCCER
The Huskies split their GLIAC opening weekend at Kearly Stadium. Tech shut out Davenport 2-0 Friday and fell 2-0 to No. 2 Grand Valley State on Sunday. Grace Shaw and Jesse Jacobusse provided the offense on Friday. The Huskies are 4-2 and play their first GLIAC road game of the season Sunday at Saginaw Valley State. First kick is set for 1 p.m.

FOOTBALL
The Huskies get back to action this weekend by hosting No. 10 Grand Valley State at Kearly Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. It will be the final nonconference game of the season for the Huskies and the first of two against the Lakers as the two teams will meet downstate on October 30. Tech is 1-1 and GVSU is 2-0.

CROSS COUNTRY
The cross country teams get back to action at the nation's largest cross country meet, the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota at the Les Bolstad Golf Course. The Jo Rider Men's Maroon Race (Division II & III) Competition starts at 1 p.m. and the Suzy Wilson Women's Maroon Race (Division II & III) Competition starts at 1:45 p.m.
