FOOTBALL
The Huskies kicked off the 2021 season with a thrilling 14-10 win over Hillsdale at Kearly Stadium. Quarterback Will Ark had a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown throws.  He connected with Jordan Janssen on a 43-yard reception and Hunter Richards for a 23-yard score with 1:14 left. The defense held the Chargers to only 168 total yards. Braxton Blackwell (10) and Marvin Wright (9) led the team in tackles and Michael Bates and Sam Ahern each had an interception. Tech hosts St. Thomas in more non-conference action at Kearly Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.

SOCCER
The Huskies went 2-0 on the weekend with a pair of shutouts. Tech defeated Minnesota Duluth 4-0 on Thursday and St. Cloud State 1-0 on Saturday. Grace Shaw and Jesse Jacobusse each scored a pair of goals against the Bulldogs. Stephanie Yeager provided the offense against SCSU. Tech wraps up nonconference play at Bemidji State Friday and Minnesota Crookston Sunday.

VOLLEYBALL
Tech hosted the Keweenaw Classic last weekend at the SDC. 16 matches were played across three days in the SDC Gym and Multi-Purpose Room. The Huskies opened the tournament with a 3-0 sweep of No. 9 Minnesota Duluth on Thursday. The Black and Gold had a pair of five-set losses to Minnesota State and No. 16 St. Cloud State Friday. No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul defeated Tech in the finale Saturday. Anna Jonynas led the Huskies with 3.25 kills per set. Laura De Marchi had 12.25 assists per set and Carissa Beyer averaged 4.44 digs per set on the weekend. Tech travels to the Capital Classic hosted by Illinois Springfield for matchups with McKendree and No. 8 Northwest Missouri State on Friday and Lake Erie and host UIS on Saturday.

CROSS COUNTRY
The cross country teams begin their season at the WSU Warrior Challenge hosted by Wayne State at Willow Metropark in New Boston, Michigan. Kristina Owen was named head coach of the Huskies in August 2020 and finally gets to lead her program into competition.
