HOCKEY
The Huskies kept the MacInnes Cup Saturday, winning the annual Winter Carnival series for the fifth year in a row. Tech split the WCHA series with Ferris State from the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena, falling 3-2 Friday before bouncing back with a 5-2 victory Saturday. Reid Sturos was named Winter Carnival MVP after two goals Saturday. Alex Smith and Mark Auk scored Friday with Thomas Beretta, Tyler Heinonen, and Chris Leibinger adding goals Saturday. Angus Redmond had 16 saves Friday and 20 Saturday. The Huskies have this weekend off before wrapping up the regular season against Northern Michigan. The two teams meet in Marquette on February 24 with the season finale on February 25 at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena. Tech's eight seniors will be honored after Saturday night's game.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Huskies swept their two-game home series, defeating Wayne State 79-61 Thursday and Saginaw Valley State 82-57 Saturday. Morgan Anderson and Lindsay Winter led the Huskies in scoring on the weekend, averaging 15.5 points per game. Kelli Guy (14.5) and Elizabeth Kelliher (14) also scored in double figures. Anderson, the lone senior on the roster, was honored after Saturday's game and led the team with 20 points on the afternoon. Tech clinched a spot in the GLIAC Tournament and is 17-6 overall and 13-5 in the GLIAC. The Huskies travel to Grand Valley State and Ferris State this weekend.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Tech split its weekend at the SDC Gym, falling to Wayne State 68-47 Thursday and defeating SVSU 66-60 Saturday. Kyle Monroe scored 25 points Thursday and 11 Saturday. Bryan Heath (18) and Jordan Charter (16) also hit double figures for the Black and Gold Saturday. Chartier, Mike Fisher, Jeff Gregory, Jason Hawke, Nic Stoll, and James Wezensky were honored during Senior Day festivities before the game against the Cardinals. The Huskies (14-11, 12-6 GLIAC) have clinched a spot in the GLIAC Tournament and travel to GVSU and FSU this weekend.

NORDIC SKIING
The Nordic ski teams raced in classic races Saturday in Rhinelander, Wis. The men skied a 10K while the women raced in a 5K. Lisa Koenig (6th) and Anna Kubek (10th) were in the top 10 for the women. Tom Bye and Tomi Mikkonen placed fifth and sixth for the men. The Huskies will travel to Marquette for the NCAA Central Region Skiing Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
