HOCKEY
The Huskies hosted Alaska Anchorage over the weekend at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. Both games ended in a tie with the Seawolves earning the extra WCHA point Friday with a goal in a 3-on-3 overtime. The Huskies scooped up the point Saturday in a sudden death shootout after two overtime periods. Jake Lucchini, Michael Neville, and Matt Roy scored Friday in the 3-3 tie. Chris Gerrie buried his first career goal Saturday in the 1-1 draw. Lucchini scored in the shootout Saturday and Angus Redmond had 47 saves on the weekend. Redmond's 1.45 goals against average is tops in the country and his .935 save percentage is sixth. Tech's defense ranks fifth nationally, allowing only 2.04 goals per game and the penalty kill is seventh at 87.8 percent. The Huskies are 14-9-5 overall and 11-3-4-2 in the WCHA, trailing first-place Bemidji State by 10 points. Tech hosts Minnesota State this weekend. The puck drops at 7:07 p.m. both nights. There will be a raffle for an on-ice shooting chance to win a $50,000 truck from Keweenaw Chevrolet on Friday, and Saturday is Youth Hockey Night with Skate With The Huskies following the game.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Tech swept its weekend downstate with a 63-58 win over Wayne State Thursday and a 93-72 victory over No. 18 Saginaw Valley State Saturday. Jason Hawke gave Tech the lead for good with five straight points with under 2:00 to go against the Warriors, as the Huskies had three players in double figures. Four players had over 15 points Saturday as the offense clicked on all cylinders against SVSU—who was ranked No. 1 in the country earlier this season. Tech (8-8, 6-3 GLIAC) hosts Northwood and Lake Superior State at the SDC Gym this week.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Huskies split on the road to open GLIAC North Division play. Morgan Anderson hit a layup with four seconds left to lift Tech to a 66-64 win at Wayne State Thursday. Brenna Heise (20), Anderson (13), Kelli Guy (11), and Lindsay Winter (11) all scored in double figures. Saginaw Valley State defeated Tech 79-67 Saturday. Anderson scored 19 while Guy and Heise chipped in with 13 points each. Tech is 10-4 overall and 6-3 in the GLIAC and hosts Northwood Thursday and Lake Superior State Saturday at the SDC Gym.

NORDIC SKIING
The Nordic ski teams skied in the classic distance races Tuesday to wrap up US Nationals in Utah. Sonja Hedblom led the women in the 20K in 54th place, while Tommy Mikkonen paced the men in 55th in the 30K. The men finished sixth in the College Cup standings while the women placed 14th. The Huskies get back to racing this weekend in Cable, Wisconsin for the Telemark Central Super NCAA/JNQ Series.
