Gene Timmer
Inducted October 28, 1989

Gene Timmer excited Michigan Tech fans from 1970-73 with his dazzling athletic abilities on the football field as a wide receiver.

At one time he held six school records and to this day he remains in the record books for best average per pass reception in a contest (37.3 yards per catch vs. Winona State on Oct. 17, 1970).

He served as captain of the football team in 1973 and also palyed one year of varsity baketball for the Huskies.

Born May 27, 1952 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, Timmer played semi-pro football with the Madison Mustangs after graduation and was the leading receiver on its league championship team.

He was always a firm supporter of the football program at Michigan Tech and served as a member of committee that raised funds to save the program he excelled in.
